To check whether your home
could be at risk, visit the National
Clandestine Laboratory Registry Web
site.
The meth that is used illegally is made from dangerous
chemicals that can be purchased at any local store. An
individual who believes he or she has discovered an illegal drug lab
or the site of an abandoned lab should immediately notify local law
enforcement (Dial 911) and should not enter the area of the
suspected lab. Meth labs can be highly dangerous,
and therefore should only be entered by cleanup
professionals. These contaminants
can be inhaled or absorbed thorough the skin by humans and animals,
causing health problems including respiratory (breathing) problems,
skin and eye irritation, headaches, nausea and
dizziness.
Meth manufacturing or "cooking" leaves behind 5 to 7
pounds of chemical waste for each pound of meth that is made. These
byproducts are considered hazardous and are not necessarily visible
to the naked eye. Meth can permeate porous materials such as
floors, ceilings, carpeting and draperies.
Most
situations will require one or more of the following
measures:
Removal (furniture, wallpaper, appliances, carpeting
etc.)
Ventilation
Neutralization
Detergent-High Pressure
Washing
Encapsulation or
Sealing (including waste removal, removal or treatment of
contaminated soil or water)
Professional chemical lab testing must be
done prior to decontamination, then again afterwards,
to confirm complete elimination of dangerous residue.
Anubis SceneClean, Inc. is certified in decontamination of Meth/Drug
Labs by Marine & Environmental Testing, Inc.
